James Cubitt and Partners Consultants is seeking for Associate Waterways Engineer which fully understands the hydrologic processes involved in flood estimation, principles involved of open channel flow, hydraulic principles, estimating flood levels and fundamentals of risk analysis in relation to catchment flows and determining water levels in channels. Candidate must be knowledgeable, skilled and expert in estimating catchment flows and behavior of flow in open channels, rivers and related flood plains.

  • Development and delivery of land development, flood defense and water management schemes.
  • Delivery of hydropower, Water Framework Directive, river restoration and other water management projects.
  • Knowledge in appraisal techniques to develop economic and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
  • Study, analyze and prepare flood risk assessments, drainage strategies and condition survey reports.
  • Contract preparation, administration and site supervision.
  • QA checks of design drawings and technical information.
  • Project co-ordination, client liaison and financial budget control.
  • Delegating and supervising work of more junior team members
  • Mentoring and training more junior team members
  • Support the team leader in managing the team’s workload.
  • Responsible in creating/making and understands full set construction documentation and develops feasible construction estimates.
  • Coordinates and act as a team with other design professionals who part of the project team.
  • May serve as on-site project representative and perform field inspections, research and calculations.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering preferably with Master Degree
  • Experience in detailed civil engineering design with a water management background.
  • Be experienced in contract and specification preparation (ideally NEC Suite / CESWI).
  • Have experience and understanding of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office programs and other relevant software packages.
  • Have experience of economic appraisal of capital projects.
  • Be experienced in liaison, consultation and chairing meetings with third parties and clients.
  • Be experienced in project, budget and resources management.
  • Team management and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Have excellent communication and written skills with the ability to both compile and check reports.
  • Responsible in creating/making and understands full set construction documentation and develops feasible construction estimates.
  • Must have good Technical Report writing, specifications and cost estimation skills.
