James Cubitt Nigeria was set up by the London office (James Cubitt & Partners) in 1956, following an initial venture into Ghana. As the West African regional office, the Lagos practice was able to efficiently execute the increasing number of post-independence projects.

Nigeria is a middle income, mixed economy and emerging market, with expanding financial, service, communications, technology and entertainment sectors. It is ranked 26th in the world in terms of GDP in 2013, 40th in 2005, it is the largest economy in Africa (based on re-based figures announced in April 2014). It is also on track to become one of the 20 largest economies in the world by 2020. Its re-emergent, though currently underperformed, manufacturing sector is the third-largest on the continent, and produces a large proportion of goods and services for the West African region

Nigeria is one of the largest oil and gas producing countries in the world, its economy primarily depend on petroleum sector revenue, where a large percentage of the population remains involved in agriculture. It has a well-developed financial services sector and an established manufacturing industry.

The firm has since executed commissions in the educational, industrial, commercial and residential sectors. The current focus of the practice is commercial-office and residential, with the dominant clients being the banking and telecommunications industries. We also provide architectural consultancy, planning, project management and interior design services in Nigeria and neighbouring countries.
