This project started as a competition for a private finance initiative for a developer to provide a new head office for the United Nations (UN) in Nigeria, to enable the organisation to relocate from Lagos to Abuja and to co-locate at the same time. JCP, as part of the Moorhouse Properties Consortium, won the competition and led the design team. The building is comprised of three wings radiating from a core. It is six-stories high and includes a 210-seater auditorium. The building was designed to a very detailed brief, particularly in terms of the organisational space requirements of the UN. A detailed space plan was prepared before the design was approved and went through subsequent iterations at the end of the project two years later, reflecting the changed needs of the organisation.
